Waiting
Are you waiting for summer? I am definitely looking forward to its arrival. Waiting can sometimes be a hard thing to do.
Have you ever stood in a slow line at the store waiting your turn for the pay? Frustrating! I’m always afraid to change lines in case the one I change to actually turns out to be slower. I figure that eventually I will get my turn so I might as well stand there. If I thought the cashier might close before I got there, I would definitely change. It seems to be knowing that my turn will eventually arrive is what makes me endure. The longer we are willing to wait for something depends upon the value of thing for which we wait.
That is why I wait for the return of Jesus, because I know it will happen. I don’t know how long, or short the wait will be, but I know His return will come to pass. In John 14:2-3. Jesus tells us “I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (KJV) He is coming back and that’s why I wait. What a glorious day that will be.

L.A.
If you tell someone you’re going to L.A., they know you mean Los Angeles. It’s a short form that everyone recognizes, but do you know what the official name is? El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles de la Porciúncula (The Village of Our Lady, the Queen of the Angels of Porziuncola) The meaning certainly says a lot more than the shortened name.
The same applies to God. We know what is meant by the name but what does His name also imply? He is the Great I Am, the Creator, the Breath of Life, the Good Shepherd, my Friend, my Refuge and Defence, My Redeemer, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, the Everlasting Father, the Passover Lamb, Our High Priest, the Kinsman Redeemer, the Prince of Peace, Our Strength and Shield, the Great Physician, the Healer of our infirmities, the Messiah and the Coming and Conquering King.
But in reality, this list doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of the true meaning of who He is. He is so much more. If I had to boil it down to a name that tries to encompass it all, I would have to call Him my Everything. If I need it, He is it.

Old Age
One of my favourite verses in the Bible is Deuteronomy 34:7. “Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died. His eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished.” (NKJV) God took Moses home at the age of 120. His eyes were still sharp and he still had all his ‘natural vigor’ or strength and vitality. That is how I plan to ‘grow old’.
I see no reason that I need to expect to become feeble in my later years. There is no need to succumb to many of the diseases and conditions that are associated with old age. My eyesight can remain sharp. You may not think this is possible. You may accept the modern conception of old age as the norm. I choose to believe in and have faith in health as related in the story of Moses.
When I turn 100 I plan to play a round of golf, and hopefully shoot my age. I plan to still be visiting places, singing and doing God’s work. As the last part of Hebrews 12:1 says, “let us run with patience the race that is set before us” (KJV) It doesn’t say run part of the race so I plan to run the entire race with full capabilities right up until the race is over.

Deep Holes
When I had my house in Ripley we had a hand dug well with rock sides that was 70 feet deep. I remember shining a light down it and being amazed by how deep it looked. I have no idea how men could have dug this hole and laid the rock sides. Someone once explained it to me but it still seems impossible.
But that hole is nothing. The Russians have drilled a hole that is 12.262 km deep. Now that is deep. It was a project to get to the molten part of the earth and study the rocks on the way down.
Keep this in mind when you find yourself in a spiritual hole. To you it may seem too deep from which to escape, but to God there is nothing too deep. No matter what your situation, God is able to help you out. Psalms 95:3-4 tells us “...GOD is the best, High King over all the gods. In one hand he holds deep caves and caverns, in the other hand grasps the high mountains.” (The Message)
In the physical world, God holds the deepest places of the earth. This is true in the spiritual realm also. He can hold you in and deliver you from the deepest despair.
