The New Year
I heard someone mention that a New Year’s resolution is something that goes in one year and out the other.
For most of us I think that is true. Many people make resolutions but for the most part, after a month or so,
they are forgotten or pushed aside. The dictionary defines a resolution as a firm decision to do something.
The problem with a decision, is that we can change our minds or simply fail to follow through on the decision.
Our intentions may be good, but our mind and body are often weak.
Rather than make resolutions, if we really want our lives to change we need to declare what God has done for us
in the past and continue with what He has promised He will for us in the future. If God has promised it,
it is though it has already been accomplished. We need to find promises in God’s word that address our situation
and then declare these promises. His Word promises health so we need to declare health.
His Word promises peace so we need to declare peace in our lives.
Our declaration of His Promises brings them to pass in our lives.

Be Strong
Sometimes I find myself trying to accomplish a specific task and I just cannot seem to get enough
strength to come up from within to get it done. There seems to be pitfall after pitfall and I find
myself doing that proverbial one step forward and two steps back. Sometimes this feeling rears its
ugly head in the simple tasks of everyday life.
No matter when it arises, we need to let it know it cannot win.
But if we are already being pushed backward and are having trouble staying on our feet,
how can we possible expect to win? Simple, declare 2 Chron 32:7.
King Hezekiah is speaking to his men of battle reminding them that the enemy is not to be feared,
even though they may seem to be stronger. "Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed
for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him:
8) With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles."
No matter what our battle may be, no matter how helpless we feel, God is there to help fight that battle
and ensure our victory when we declare His Word over our lives.

Help I’m Losing!
Have you ever had days when that’s what you wanted to shout.
Things just kept piling up until you felt you could take it no longer.
You would try to get up but it felt like you were trying to lift a thousand pounds and you couldn’t move.
Maybe I have exaggerated a little bit but I’m sure most of us have had days when we felt we were fighting a losing battle.
When this happens, some curl up and hope things will improve,
others try to fight but find it difficult, then there are those who just give up.
If you ever feel you are losing and hope is slipping from view, you need to declare God’s word over your life.
The prophet Micah did just that. "Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of
my salvation: my God will hear me. Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise;
when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me." (Micah 7:7-8, KJV)
Let the enemy know that giving up is not one of your options.
Let him know that no matter how many times he knocks you down,
you will get back up and God will be your light in the darkness
with which he tries to defeat you.

Snow
Snowy, winter weather is a funny thing. On calm days, the snow floats down and makes everything so clean and white.
I feel like I could stand outside and watch it for hours. On blustery days, driving becomes a nightmare and the last thing
I want to do is to go outside and watch. Snow can be a beautiful thing, or it can be hazardous.
The difference is the atmosphere that is associated with the snow.
Our lives are similar. To one person, a certain situation may be peaceful and serene,
to another the same situation may be the last thing they want to see.
The difference is the atmosphere we create when we find ourselves in those situations.
The good thing is that we can form the atmosphere in which we live.
In Joshua 1:9, God tells Joshua, "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage;
be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." (KJV)
He is being told to not dwell on what he sees, but instead,
change the atmosphere of his situation by dwelling on the promise of God.
It is by standing on all the promises that God has provided for us that
we can effectively change the atmosphere in which we live.
